Normal Trash Collection Schedule Resumes December 14

Normal residential and commercial solid waste collection services will resume for South Coast communities beginning tomorrow, December 14, 2017 with the exception of the areas of the County currently in mandatory evacuation zones. Solid waste facilities will be open as well. Read more...

Facility Closures and Trash Service Delays Due to Thomas Fire

The County’s South Coast Recycling and Transfer Station, as well as MarBorg’s transfer station in Santa Barbara, will be closed on Friday, December 8 due to hazardous air quality resulting from the Thomas Fire. County Reduces Emissions Equivalent to Taking 6,500 Cars Off Local Roads

County staff, residents, and businesses are making strides reducing greenhouse gas emissions, as called for in the County’s Energy and Climate Action Plan. Working together, the County and community have cut carbon pollution by an estimated 30,605 metric tons of carbon dioxide-equivalent. That’s like taking 6,465 cars off the road for a year! Planning Commission to Review Design Changes for Tajiguas Resource Recovery Project

On August 30th the County Planning Commission will review proposed changes to the design of the Tajiguas Resource Recovery Project. The new design moves all structures out of the Coastal Zone while still meeting all of the project’s original environmental goals, including reduction of greenhouse gases, production of green energy, and enhanced recycling.
