New Options for Recycling Old Textiles

Residents can bring old textiles to either of the following locations for free:

MarBorg Industries at 20 David Love Place (open Monday through Saturday, 8AM - 4PM)

South Coast Recycling and Transfer Station at 4430 Calle Real (open Monday through Saturday, 7AM - 5PM)

Please note: Thrift stores and other businesses wishing to recycle textiles should contact MarBorg at 805-963-1852 to arrange for a scheduled drop-off time.

Acceptable Items:

  • Fabric
  • Towels
  • Clothing
  • Shoes (matching pairs only; shoes with laces should be tied together)
  • Purses
  • Backpacks
  • Pillowcases

Unacceptable Items:

  • Soiled items
  • Wet items
  • Contaminated items
  • Fabric Scraps
  • Luggage
  • Carpet

Collected clothing items that are in good condition will be sent overseas to people in need. The remaining unusable textiles are recycled into shop rags and sold to local businesses.
