Green Business Program Recruiting New Applicants

The County encourages businesses and agencies to apply for certification under the Green Business Program of Santa Barbara County. Through the Green Business Academy, businesses will receive assistance and guidance to implement certain mandatory and a minimum number of voluntary measures in the following areas:

  • Waste reduction and recycling
  • Environmentally preferable purchasing
  • Energy conservation
  • Water conservation
  • Pollution prevention and the use of alternative forms of transportation

Businesses that complete the necessary measures will qualify as certified "green" businesses.  Businesses in the following sectors are eligible to apply for certification:

  • Office/Retail
  • Restaurants
  • Lodging Establishments
  • Automotive Shops
  • Multi-Family Residential Communities
  • Breweries
