Terracycle's Wrapper and Recycling program
Many plastic containers are recyclable in your blue bin, but TerraCycle has a program that also includes certain food wrappers.
They take the materials and "upcycle" them into reusable bags and other durable products.
TerraCycle started as a worm composting program but quickly expanded to include wrappers and materials from several food products. Their programs focus mainly on schools and non-profits, allowing the groups to collect and recycle the materials as fundraisers. Take a look at the brands and products available at TerraCycle.net.
What about plastic containers?
TerraCycle also provides recycling locations for #5 plastic. Keep in mind, however, that in Santa Barbara County we can recycle all hard plastics in our curbside blue bins.
