These are the beach, creek and inland water way sites that were cleaned for Coastal Cleanup Day in 2010. The event was September 25th, 2010.
This was one of our best years ever with way more volunteers collecting much less trash.

The results of this year's clean up were awesome, exceeding 2009 by more than 500 volunteers! And we collected less trash, meaning more people are taking care of our local waterways! Read more...

Jelly Bowl Beach:
Meeting Place: The bluff area near the beach stairs, over the railroad tracks at the foot of Calle Ocho.

Parking: Walking to this site is strongly encouraged. Parking in downtown Carpinteria may be available.
Special Directions: To get to the site you must cross train tracks. Please be wary and check for oncoming trains before crossing.
Santa Claus Lane (Padaro Lane) Beach:
Meeting Place: Towards the west entrance of Santa Claus Lane, close to the street.

Parking: Parking at Tajiguas Beach itself is a dirt pullout that is only accessible from 101 Southbound. There will be a person on site to greet you, but please see the note above and special directions below for more info.
Special Directions: If you report to Refugio Beach before the cleanup, there will be refreshments and carpooling options available.

Depression's Beach*:
*This Cleanup does not start until 1:00 PM and goes until 3:00PM
Meeting Place: Meet at Manzanita Village on UCSB's Campus.

Parking: Walking or Biking to this site is encouraged. You may park on Campus if you have a permit or pay, in Isla Vista if you walk.
Special Directions: This Cleanup does not start until 1:00 PM and goes until 3:00PM. Bring sunblock and a Friend!
Ellwood Beach:
Meeting Place: Top of Ellwood Mesa Bluffs, at the chimney by the beach access (straight out from Ellwood Beach Drive). See a large picture of the chimney.

Parking: On Coronado, Phelps, Ellwood Beach Drive, or at the Sperling Preserve. Walk or bike to the site.
Special Directions: Do Not rely on Google Maps to find directions to this beach. Directions to parking can be found above. Be prepared to walk long distances to and from the site. We recommend bringing thick work gloves if you have them, this beach has lots of debris on it.

Goleta Beach:

Parking: Goleta Beach has several free parking lots on site. Walking or Biking from UCSB's campus is encouraged.
Special Directions: This site will be participating in Channel Keeper's Stream Team and will be traveling off of Goleta Beach by car to the creeks. Car pooling is highly recommended, as well as wearing sturdy shoes that can go in water. The teams will leave at 9:30, if you show up afterward, please clean Goleta Beach!
Haskell's Beach:
Meeting Place: At the Beach house, down the dirt path that starts at the tennis courts and leads towards the beach. See "Special Directions" below.
Beach Captain: Brian Murray

Parking: Haskell's Beach has a free parking lot on site. Use the beach parking lot near Bacara's tennis courts
Special Directions: Enter the road that has a sign for Bacara on it and follow it for over a half mile. There will be a parking lot on your left marked by signs that say "Beach Access".
Hospital Creek:
Meeting Place: The end of S. Turnpike Rd., south of Hollister ave. at the Turnpike bioswale area.
Captain: Fray Crease
Organization: Santa Barbara County Project Clean Water

Special Directions: Site is easily accessible by the Coast Route bike path in Goleta. We recommend sturdy shoes and sunscreen. Gloves, bags and refreshments will be provided.

Lake Los Carneros
Meeting Place: The parking lot adjacent to the South Coast Railroad Museum off Los Carneros Road in Goleta.

Special Directions: There will be both a cleanup and weeding going on at this site. We recommend sturdy shoes and sunscreen. Gloves, bags will be provided, but please consider BYO - Bringing your own bag, bucket, or gloves will greatly reduce the waste generated at this event.

Guadalupe Dunes Beach:
Meeting Place: At the North end of the parking lot next to trailer. Eddie will be at a table.

Arroyo Burro (Hendry's) Beach:
Meeting Place: Steps leading to the beach.

Butterfly Beach:
Meeting Place: To the Right of the Coral Casino at the Cement Stairway

Parking: Walking or Biking to the site is encouraged. Street parking is available; additional parking is available on the street behind the Biltmore Hotel.
Chase Palm Park Beach:
Meeting Place: Grassy area between Stearns Wharf and Mission Creek Lagoon

Parking: Walking or Biking to the site is strongly encouraged. Waterfront parking fees will be waived if you get a coastal cleanup day parking pass from your beach captain. The West Beach Music Festival will start at Noon, meaning parking could get tight.
Special Directions: The West Beach Music Festival is donating a ticket to be raffled to participants at Chase Palm Park for Saturday's show. The lucky winner will get to enjoy fun-in-the-sun rock, reggae, electro & jam bands. Check out the West Beach Music Festival website for a detailed line-up and to buy tickets.
East Beach:
Meeting Place: Beside the Cabrillo Bath House.

Meeting Place: Stairs near the access area, off of Eucalyptus Lane.

Parking: Walking or Biking to the site is encouraged. There is parking available at All Saints by the Sea Church at 84 Eucalyptus Lane on the left side of Eucalyptus Avenue. Look for the Coastal Cleanup Day sign.

Leadbetter Beach:
Meeting Place: The furthest west end of the picnic table area.

Parking: Walking or Biking to the site is encouraged. Leadbetter has several parking lots on site. Most of the parking fees will be waived if you get a coastal cleanup day parking pass from your beach captain.
Special Directions: Be conscientious of any other events going on at the beach. If you park in a pay spot, make sure to get the parking pass mentioned above.
West Beach:
Meeting Place: Across the street from Sambo's Restaurant.
