Textiles Recovery is Happening Here!
Did you know that textiles can be cut up and used for projects like quilts, rugs, and patchwork, or they can be used as rags around the house? How cool! Another way to handle unwanted textiles is through our FREE textiles drop-off program. Residents can bring clean clothing, clean rags, matching shoes, backpacks, and purses to the South Coast Recycling and Transfer Station (SCRTS) and MarBorg's Recycling and ABOP center in Goleta for reuse opportunities. Check out our flyer here.
Textiles and other acceptable items collected at SCRTS and are combined with all collected textiles at MarBorg’s Goleta facility and baled there. Textile Waste Solutions, a local textile recycling business, transports these baled textiles and acceptable items to their warehouse in the City of Commerce, Los Angeles to be sorted and separated. Textiles are either shipped overseas for reuse in developing countries or are cut and sourced locally into rags to be used for industrial purposes. View the list below to learn abut what is accepted in the Textiles Recovery program, or feel free to contact us with any questions.
