Santa Barbara Cleanup Sites

We clean some of your favorite places in and around Santa Barbara!

Arroyo Burro (Hendry's) Beach:

Meeting Place: Steps leading to the beach
Beach Captains: Lindsay Johnson and Jill Cloutier
Organization: Explore Ecology
Parking: A free parking lot off Cliff Drive next to the beach. Special Directions: Be aware that unleashed dogs may be present during the cleanup.  Beach can accommodate large groups.

Butterfly Beach:

Meeting Place: To the right of the Coral Casino at the cement stairway
Beach Captain: Susan Robles
Organization:
Montecito Association
Parking: Walking or biking to the site is encouraged. Street parking is available on Channel Drive and Butterfly Lane.

Chase Palm Park Beach:

Meeting Place: Grassy area between Stearns Wharf and Mission Creek Lagoon
Beach Captains: Eddie Harris and Jackie Hunt
Organizations: Surfrider Foundation and Ty Warner Sea Center, respectively.
Parking: Parking will be free in any City of Santa Barbara parking lot from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., when displaying a Coastal Cleanup Day volunteer parking lot voucher.  This parking pass may be obtained from one of the beach captains.  Walking or biking to the site is strongly encouraged.
Special Directions:
Beach can accommodate large groups.

East Beach:

Meeting Place: West side of Cabrillo Bath House on East Beach
Beach Captains: Rynell Cook, Megan Philips, and Ariana Arcenas-Utley
Organization:
Deckers Corporation (Teva)
Parking: Parking will be free in any City of Santa Barbara parking lot from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., when displaying a Coastal Cleanup Day volunteer parking lot voucher.  This parking pass may be obtained from one of the beach captains.  Walking or biking to the site is encouraged.
Special Directions:
There may be other events occurring at this site during Coastal Cleanup Day. Please be respectful and give other beach users their space. Beach can accommodate large groups.

East Beach (Sycamore Creek):

Meeting Place:  East side of Cabrillo Bath House on East Beach.
Beach Captain:  Amber Workman
Organization:  City of Santa Barbara Parks and Recreation
Parking:  Parking will be free in any City of Santa Barbara parking lot from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., when displaying a Coastal Cleanup Day volunteer parking lot voucher.  This parking pass may be obtained from the beach captain.  Walking or biking to the site is encouraged.
Special Directions:  There may be other events occurring at this site during Coastal Cleanup Day.  Please be respectful and give other beach users their space.  Beach can accommodate large groups.

Hammond's/Miramar Beach:

Meeting Place: Stairs near the access area, off of Eucalyptus Lane
Beach Captain: Clara Svedlund
Organization: Laguna Blanca School
Parking:
: Walking or biking to the site is encouraged. Limited street parking is available.
Special Directions:  High tide may reduce cleanup area. 

Leadbetter Beach:

Meeting Place: The far western side of the parking lot and the picnic table area
Beach Captain: Rachel Couch
Organization: State Coastal Conservancy
Parking:
Parking will be free in any City of Santa Barbara parking lot from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., when displaying a Coastal Cleanup Day volunteer parking voucher.  This parking pass may be obtained from the beach captain.  Walking or biking to the site is encouraged.
Special Directions:
Be aware of any other events occurring at the beach.  Beach can accommodate large groups.

West Beach:

Meeting Place: West end of the beach by the bike path across the street from Sambo's Restaurant
Beach Captain: Penny Owens
Organization: Santa Barbara Channel Keeper
Parking: Parking will be free in any City of Santa Barbara parking lot from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., when displaying a Coastal Cleanup Day volunteer parking voucher.  This parking pass may be obtained from the beach captain.  Walking or biking to the site is encouraged.
Special Directions: Beach can accommodate large groups.
