New County On-Line Payment System Now Available

Great news! The County has a new on-line system for the acceptance of payments by credit card.


Free Oil and Filter Recycling


With summer quickly upon us, make sure your vehicle is tuned up for all those upcoming road trips. If you change your own oil, you can recycle it at no charge at one of over 50 drop-off locations in the County. And don't forget your oil filters too!


Spring Composting Workshops


Join the County at one of three backyard composting workshops scheduled in May and June. Whether you're looking to keep food scraps out of the landfill, improve your current composting operation, or have never heard of composting but are interested in giving it a try, these workshops are for you!


RRWMD & Senator Jackson Promote Safe Medication Disposal


Earlier today members of our Resource Recovery & Waste Management Division joined State Senator Hannah-Beth Jackson and Supervisor Janet Wolf in a press event to promote Senator Jackson's safe medication disposal bill, SB 727.


Recycle Your Old Electronics Today!

Did you miss our recent electronics collection event? If so, no worries and no need to wait for another special event. You can drop off your old electronics, free of charge, at one of the County's Recycling and Transfer Stations any time we're open.


County Supports Three EPR Bills

Continuing to endorse product stewardship efforts, the County today sent letters of support for three new bills that would establish manufacturer take-back programs for medical sharps, non-rechargeable batteries, and household medications.


Join Us In Santa Ynez This Sunday

Calling all of our Santa Ynez Valley neighbors: On Sunday, April 7, 2013 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. the County will collect all types of common household hazardous waste and electronics. Stop by the Santa Ynez Valley Recycling and Transfer Station with items like used motor oil, paint, batteries, and more.


Resource Recovery Office Green Biz Certified


The Resource Recovery and Waste Management Division's office in downtown Santa Barbara was recently certified as an official Green Business through the Green Business Program of Santa Barbara County. The program recognizes businesses that go above and beyond to protect, preserve, and improve the environment.


Regional Waste Services Summary Now Available

Interested in learning more about the services provided by the County's Resource Recovery and Waste Management Division? Check out our latest Regional Community Solid Waste Management Services Summary for Fiscal Year 2011/12. The Summary includes participation figures and waste collection data for all of the Division's community programs.


New Retail-Based Paint Collection Program


Now when you go to buy new paint, you may be able to bring your old paint back to the same location. In October 2012 seven paint retailers in Santa Barbara County began participating in a new collection program operated by the industry group PaintCare. Residents, as well as qualifying businesses, are able to use the drop-off sites at no charge.
