Free Worm Composting Workshop This Friday


Join us at the Solvang Library for a free vermicomposting workshop this Friday at 10:30 a.m. We'll provide step-by-step instructions to easily create your own worm composting bin and offer tips to keep your worms happy.


Community Hazardous Waste Collection Center Closed July 4th

The Community Hazardous Waste Collection Center will be closed on Friday, July 4, however, will reopen on Saturday, July 5 at 9:00 a.m. for our normal household collection program.


Temporary Road Closure Near Hazardous Waste Collection Center


If you're heading to the Community Hazardous Waste Collection Center this summer, please note that a portion of the road adjacent to the Center will be temporarily closed for construction until mid-September 2014. Public Hearing Scheduled for Single-Use Plastic Bag Ban Ordinance Draft EIR

The County will hold a public hearing on Thursday, January 16 at 5:00 p.m. in the Planning Commission Hearing Room (123 East Anapamu Street, First Floor) to receive verbal comments on the draft EIR for the Single-Use Plastic Bag Ban Ordinance. Written comments will be accepted until Friday, January 24.


Hazardous Waste Center Closed Over Holidays

The Community Hazardous Waste Collection Center, located at UCSB, will be closed the weekends of December 28-29 and January 4-5. We'll return to normal operations on Friday, January 10 for businesses (by appointment) and on Saturday, January 11 for residents (no appointment necessary).


Draft EIR for Single-Use Plastic Bag Ban Ordinance Now Available

The draft EIR is now available for public download! We are receiving comments on this document until January 27, 2014. There will also be a public hearing on the draft EIR at the County Planning Commission Hearing Room (located on the first floor of the Main County Administration Building at 105 East Anapamu) on January 16, 2014 at 5:00 p.m.
