County Supervisors Approve Tajiguas RRP - Largest Reducer of Greenhouse Gases in County History

On Tuesday the Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors approved the final contracts necessary to move forward with the long-awaited Resource Recovery Project. The project will increase the County’s recycling rate to over 85% and will result in an estimated reduction of 110,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent each year.

Bulky Item Collection Reminder

Hazardous Waste Center Closed Thanksgiving Weekend

The Community Hazardous Waste Collection Center will be closed during the Thanksgiving weekend, November 26 and November 27. Please hold on to your waste and drop it off the following weekend, on Saturday, December 3 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. or Sunday, December 4 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Free Hazardous Waste Events This Weekend

If you’re tired of seeing those old paint cans in the garage or that old jug of used motor oil in the back shed, bring them to an upcoming household hazardous waste collection event. The County is holding two events this weekend – on Saturday, October 1 in New Cuyama and on Sunday, October 2 in the Santa Ynez Valley.
