The Resource Recovery & Waste Management Division of the County's Public Works Department recently received a merit award from the California State Association of Counties (CSAC) for the ReSource Center (formerly known as the Tajiguas Resource Recovery Project).

The ReSource Center, currently under construction, will address the dwindling capacity of the Tajiguas Landfill; support the County's need to develop infrastructure to comply with state requirements for diverting food scraps, organics, and other solid waste from the the landfill; and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.  Additionally, the ReSource Center will increase the community's recycling rate and generate green energy and compost.
